Share and Honor Your Gifts

“The person born with a talent they are meant to use will find their greatest happiness in using it.” ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

How often do you downplay your gifts? Probably quite a bit, we all do it. Our gifts often come easy to us, and we assume they come easy to everyone. But guess what … your gifts are what make you unique.

Let’s try an exercise. Take five minutes and write down all the gifts and talents you have. Write them all down, no matter how mundane. Maybe you are good at organizing or love taking photos. Maybe you are a great listener and make people feel heard.

Honor your gifts

Your collection of gifts is what makes you unique. Take time to appreciate them. Maybe make them part of your gratitude reflections. Think about the positive impact they have on other people.

Share your gifts

Bring your gifts to the table at work or in your community. Everyone has something different to bring to the table. Don’t be like everyone else, be you. Maybe a problem at work could really use a different perspective, or mapping things out on a white board. There are people in your community who would love someone to read to them, or lend a listening ear.

Let’s add to our excercise from above. How will you honor your gifts this week? Name 3-4 people who might be able to benefit from gifts. How will you put that into action. Place this paper somewhere where you will see it this week, and come back to it and see how you did.
